Improvements made and defects fixed on the Cable Size Calculator

Hi Reader

Just letting you know.

I made a few small improvements and fixed defects on the Cable Size Calculator.

Improvements:

  • Input: Added a voltage drop select list so you don't have to type.
  • Input: Added more options to the voltage select list.
  • Input: Units are now shown inside input fields instead of in the label.
  • Results: In loop impedance, I added "installed distance" above "maximum distance" for easy comparison.
  • Results: Improved layout when no suitable cable is found.
  • Step-by-step calculations. Improved formulas and descriptions for loop impedance.
  • Report: Updated heading with full standard title i.e. AS/NZS 3008.1.1:2017 Australian conditions or AS/NZS 3008.1.2:2017 New Zealand conditions.
  • Report: Updated loop impedance descriptions.

Defects:

  • Input: The "Spaced from Surface, Touching" allowed only 6 circuits instead of 9.
  • Input: The voltage select list was cut off at the end on mobile phones.
  • Input: The voltage input field for "Other" voltage did not display properly on mobile phones.
  • Results: Earth fault at the load not displayed for generic protection.
  • Report: The aluminium 110° degree Tricab cable reference did not fit on the report.
  • Report: Special characters in PDF reports were incorrectly encoded, e.g. A & B showed as A & B.
