Improvements made and defects fixed on the Cable Size Calculator

Hi Reader

I am just letting you know.

I made a few small improvements and fixed defects on the Cable Size Calculator.

Improvements

  • I added a confirmation window for the reset button.
  • I added a warning for the user to raise the ambient temperature for cables installed in ceilings.
  • I added step-by-step calculations for the phase and earth fault at load.
  • I improved the step-by-step calculations for maximum earth loop distance.
  • I added new content to explain maximum loop distance calculations.
  • I added new content to explain the MCB curve types.

Defects

  • Parallel cables are now allowed for cables ≥ 4 mm² only –AS/NZS 3000, section 3.4.3.
  • I added reactance correction factors for "Spaced" single-core cables –AS/NZS 3008, Tables 30 and 31, Note 1.
  • I changed single-phase reactance values from "Flat" to "Trefoil" –AS/NZS 3008, Tables 30 and 31. The "Flat" values were more conservative".
  • Cables installed horizontally on a wall with a vertical spacing of 6D (no derating) are now limited to 3 cables –AS/NZS 3000, Figure 1, Note 5.

Hi Reader I am just letting you know. I added two options to optimise the earth cable sizing for high current installations in the Cable Size Calculator. Option: Ignore table 5.1 sizes Ignore earth sizes specified in Table 5.1 in AS/NZS 3000. Earth size will be based on fault current and loop impedance only. This option is available when: Parallel single-core cable groups are used. Check fault rating and Check loop impedance are enabled. The calculated earth size is ≥ 120 mm2 (copper) or ≥...

Hi Reader Just letting you know. I have changed the mobile layout of the Maximum Demand Calculator. See the images below. I also made a few improvements and fixed some defects. Improvements I added kW ratings. You now have A, Watt and kW. I added 3-phase loads to Blocks of Living Units. I improved the descriptions for the default loads when you open the calculator the first time. I updated the example in the content below the calculator with more load groups and more detailed calculation...
