Hi Reader I am just letting you know. I added two options to optimise the earth cable sizing for high current installations in the Cable Size Calculator. Option: Ignore table 5.1 sizes Ignore earth sizes specified in Table 5.1 in AS/NZS 3000. Earth size will be based on fault current and loop impedance only. This option is available when: Parallel single-core cable groups are used. Check fault rating and Check loop impedance are enabled. The calculated earth size is ≥ 120 mm2 (copper) or ≥...

Hi Reader Just letting you know. I have changed the mobile layout of the Maximum Demand Calculator. See the images below. I also made a few improvements and fixed some defects. Improvements I added kW ratings. You now have A, Watt and kW. I added 3-phase loads to Blocks of Living Units. I improved the descriptions for the default loads when you open the calculator the first time. I updated the example in the content below the calculator with more load groups and more detailed calculation...

Hi Reader I am just letting you know. I added electrode images to the Arc Flash Calculator. Plus a few other improvements. 1. Electrode images 2. Model limit validations I added the IEEE-1584 model limitations to the field validations, including voltage, conductor gap and enclosure size. For example: 2. Simplified equipment types I reduced and simplified the list of typical equipment types. They are used to prefill the working distance, conductor gap and enclosure dimensions with typical...

Hi Reader I am just letting you know. I made a few small improvements and fixed defects on the Cable Size Calculator. Improvements I added a confirmation window for the reset button. I added a warning for the user to raise the ambient temperature for cables installed in ceilings. I added step-by-step calculations for the phase and earth fault at load. I improved the step-by-step calculations for maximum earth loop distance. I added new content to explain maximum loop distance calculations. I...

Hi Reader I am just letting you know. I noticed some confusion between the parameters: "Number of Parallel Cables" under Cable Type, and "Number of Cables" under Installation. So I made a few changes to the Cable Size Calculator to make it more intuitive. 1. Updated parameter names for "Number of Parallel Cables" under Cable Type and the "Number of Cables" under Installation. 2. Limited maximum "Number of parallel cables". It is now limited to what the installation supports. For example,...

Hi Reader I am just letting you know. I have added conduit sizing to the Cable Size Calculator. It is based on Tables C10, C11 and C12 in AS/NZS 3000:2018. It covers single- and multi-core circular cables. Support for flat cables will be added later. See the images below. Click here to try. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. I appreciate your feedback. Input Results Adam van StadenLinkedIn Profile This information does not constitute legal, professional or commercial...

Hi Reader I am just letting you know. I have added Terasaki (NHP) MCCBs to the Cable Size Calculator. It includes the A and P range (up to 630A), with thermal-magnetic trip units. Please let me know if you need electronic trip units or MCCBs with a higher current rating. Note that I have made some adjustments to the let-through energy curves. The calculator now reads from continuous curves instead of using fixed points, which should result in slightly lower let-through energy values. Please...
